This is a bit late because I put issue 5 with the dew-drop portrait of Irene ahead of this. Hoo roo Ding
The bees knees. Working bees are easy to photograph. They are much too busy gathering honey to care about your camera. Unless violently provoked, they don't usually turn aggressive. The challenge is in catching them in flight from close-up. After a night's rain, I have spotted a few sheltered inside flowers, totally drenched and drying themselves in the early morning sun. Within minutes they are off and buzzing. They are skillful but not very careful flyers, as they often come crashing down into a flower instead of landing gracefully. It's not easy being a bee. They don't get to keep the honey they gather so feverishly. They live regimented lives working for their Queen. Quite few end up in a spider's web, or as fast food for a preying mantis.
