Here we are, four buddies from college. Those kinds of glasses are passe now, but so are striped shirts, digital wrist watches, rubber shoes that doesn't have air in them, and really long hair. But we still look back, and often talk about, the time we took time-off to enjoy our youth.
We talked about lots of things then. About cars and girls, but mostly cars. We may even have wondered aloud who was most likely to succeed. (I sort of remember there was a stray dog under a table somewhere beside us, and we unanimously pointed at him.)

Yup, those were the days when life was simpler. Five channels on TV, FM radio, LP records and phones that needed to be attached to the wall. Will our grandchildren believe such a time existed? I doubt it. My children already have a hard time believing TV's once came in black and white!

Here is Ricky DB and Abe L, albeit much younger.
I don't remember what they were doing when Andy took this picture, except probably pretending they are having their candid shots taken. (For those who recently joined us, the word digital still didn't precede the word camera. We had spools of plastic film in them devices then, and film was darn expensive so each shot had to count, even those that were supposed to be candidly taken!)

If you ask me, they are probably in deep reflection, wondering how the rest of their lives will play out. Today, about 30 years from that fateful date, I bet they're still wondering. It's not the end until the fat lady sings, you know. Check back in 30 more years.

This is me, after a violent pillow-fight I think, can't remember how I ended up in this sorry state.
I know, I know. Four male friends spending a weekend together in a mountain resort, shades of Brokeback you say, but nothing happened except the start of a lasting friendship. Honest. Don't believe everything you see.

By the way, that's a Casio liquid-crystal digital watch on my left hand! That's how we tell time back then. It beats looking at the position of the sun in the sky, but hey, it wasn't the dark ages you know.

This is a photo from one of our retreats when we were college freshmen. From left, that's: Pepito Albert, Yuyu Tabora, Birang Rodriguez, JJ Oledan, Gert Tan, Malu Montinola, Frances Oliveros, Joy Tiangco...
We all looked younger then, scary, but young. I'm sure we'd all love to be young again, but man I'll pass on the hairdos!
