Djenné

Djenné (pop 22,000)was an important seat of Islamic scholarship in the Sahel in the 14-15th Centuries. The World-Heritage listed city was one of my top destination goals for this trip. Unfortunately, our delayed arrival and departure from Bamako meant that we missed Djenné in the early morning when the famous Grand Mosquée appears in the best light...and such is group travel that we had to move on...
