I have been working over the last few years, on a series of images created at three environmentally and geographically distinct island locations. They are not photo-journalistic but instead visual notations reflective of the individuality of each area. I have concentrated on Iceland, which is an active volcanic island (country) continuing to experience the movement of tectonical plates and the interaction of a subterranean hotspot or mantle plume; Bailey Island in Maine, which shows remnants of continental drift and is continually beaten and shaped by the Atlantic Ocean; and Caladesi Island in Florida, which is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico, constantly being recreated by weather driven shifting sands.
The images capture an ancient view in "today's" light, but ultimately, each image is a world unto itself.
Enchanting pictures! Thanks for the invite to the exhibition. Being in Iceland I won't attend but it is nice to able to view some photos here. I must say, even though I am Icelandic and the Icelandic scenery should be the most familiar to me, I find the Icelandic images the strangest and most exciting of the three islands! This country of mine is so young and constantly recreating itself! Right now an eruption is expected in Eyjafjallajökull glacier in the south, there have been a lot of earthquakes there for a few days.
