Koli'i Flowers

Pu'u Maka'ala NAR

After taking over a month to form the flower stalks, the flowers are pretty short-lived. I caught it just in time. The flowers are about 2" to 2.5" long. These are bird-pollinated flowers, so the birds stick their beak into the curved flower, and the little brush deposits/collects pollen on their foreheads.
