Cederblad 214 is an emission nebula near the larger and
fainter NGC 7822 in Cepheus. This object shows an astounding
complexity of ionized, glowing hydrogen, dark obscuring clouds,
and black globules. Some of these areas are ringed with light,
a sign that they are evaporating under the radiation from the
embedded stars. These globules are also contracting, and may
gather enough material together to create new stars.
