NGC 457 is a beautiful open cluster in the contellation Cassiopeia.
With a little imagination, one can see the two bright stars at the
top of the image as glowing eyes, and the fainter stars outlining
a body with outstretched arms or wings. Thus, this cluster is often
called the "owl cluster", or the "dragonfly cluster", or the "E.T.
cluster". Whatever you call it, it is about 9000 light years from
earth.
