NGC 7814 (Caldwell 43)

This nearly edge-on spiral galaxy in Pegasus is about 40
million light years from earth. There are two details particularly
worth noting in this image. The first is that, in addition to the
lane of dust cutting across the front of our view of this galaxy,
the galaxy is tilted just enough from our point of view to allow
us also to see the more distant dust lanes on the far side of the
galaxy. The second thing to notice is the seemingly endless number
of far more distant galaxies throughout this image. Take the time
to look slowly through the "original" size to see both of these noteworthy
features.
