IC 405 and 410

This wide field view includes two showpiece nebulae in
the constellation Auriga: IC 410 at bottom right, and
IC 405, "The Flaming Star Nebula", in the upper left.
Taken through a hydrogen-alpha filter, this image also shows
how dimmer strands of dimly glowing hydrogen fill the entire
area. Though the two objects may look as though they are
part of the same large cloud, in fact they are very far
from each other. IC 405 is 1500 light years from earth,
while IC 410 is 12,000 light years away from us.
