At various locations throughout the park the NPS conducts various programs during the summer (tourist) months. It may be a group of mountain musicians playing blue grass with fiddle and banjo, or a miller demonstrating the craft of grinding grains or, as here, a blacksmith making nails the old way. This was taken near the Cades Cove Visitor Center, one of the more popular tourist spots. A one way 11 mile loop road leads the visitors passed old homesteads, mountain vistas and to large fields where deer and bear are seen with increasing regularity. A turkey crossed that road just in front of my car on the last visit.
