Zach and Chelsea are a husband/wife team of artists and glassblowers, and together they have become one of the most powerful forces in glass murrine creation in the world today. The images they create in glass just keep getting better, as witnessed by their Dreamscape series of murrina. This young couple will be around for a LONG time, and we are fortunate to be seeing the early masterpieces from what will some day be an astounding collection of work.

Zach began his glass career by working with furnace glass, but eventually moved to the torch. Zach learned the process of 'hot' murrine creation by studying with Loren Stump, the world's master in this process. The 'hot' process involves building the murrine image from the inside out, laying on strips of various colored glass in a hot mass, and the image grows as more color is laid on. Zach eventually began using the cold method as well, which involves creating an image by bundling many stringers of glass together into the image, and then heating and fusing this bundle. With both methods, the resultant bundle of glass is then pulled down into smaller cane, with the image running all through the cane - quite a fascinating, and time-intensive process!

As Zach became more and more well-versed in murrine creation, Chelsea eventually began to play around with the cold stringer method herself, and she is now creating some of the best murrine images the world has seen. Each of the six Dreamscape images from her are not only amazing murrina, but are also based on ORIGINAL images created by Chelsea. Most murrine that has been done up to this point in history has been based on paintings or photographs from other artists, but we now have this powerful artistic duo of Zach and Chelsea who are taking their own original images and translating them into glass. Folks, this is glass history in the making right here, and you are witnessing it!! Yes, I am very, VEEEERY excited!!! With the glass images that are created, Zach then takes slices of these images and molds them into the amazing marbles that we all know and love so much. Absolutely FANTASTIC work!
