This large mind-exploding stunner from Yoshi is named Iki-Iki, which translates to 'development' in Japanese according to Yoshi, or an aesthetic ideal. The translation is not straight forward, but when looking at the marble you can certainly understand that this marble is certainly ideal in its aesthetics, and has been developed to an extraordinary degree! This is a larger marble for Yoshi, allowing SO much detail to be incorporated, and it is astounding just how much dot stacking is happening here...and how utterly controlled it is throughout. Quite simply, it's one of those marbles that instantly takes your breath away, and since the word Iki can also refer to breath or breathing, this is also perfect! Layers up upon layer of goodness greets you, and then when you look inside the marble, you're treated with many special treats as well. The opals that are stacked inside there are grand and gorgeous, and to top it all off, it lights up from within with UV glass (when a black light is used)!! This is a staggering glass achievement here, so hard to let go of, and one that Yoshi is really proud of. So many things could go wrong in a creation like this....yet nothing did. Such is the way of Yoshi and his superior control of the glass. After getting to watch him work while I was in Japan, I now understand a little better just what it takes to accomplish something like this. It's not for the faint of heart! A masterful centerpiece for any collection is to be had here. This marble comes from the 2014 Team Japan show in Japan, with Yoshi's signature opal inside, and signed with a '14' in ti pen as well.
