9th - Zooooom

Cheltenham, Glos.

Well, I've finally been found out! I'll have to give this bad boy back soon - it was fun (but hard work) using this beast of a lens. I really liked the telephoto end at f/2.8, but 70mm is not nearly wide enough as a starting distance for my needs.

Ah well, 'twas not to be!

LOVE this shot! I actually have this "beastie" in my stable. I'm actually quite fond of it! I use a 2x converter on it as well, with great success. Of course, the 2.8 jumps to 5.6 when I double the focal length. As soon as I find some time, I'll be posting some fun shots from a NHL hockey game taken with this lens. :-)

Looks like a nice lens. I wouldn't say no!

engaging alright..amazing that you could even test drive it...perhaps one to let slip through your fingers though...good combo is the 18-200mm & 12-24mm...after that primes..perhaps 35 and 85mm...whatever grabs your spirit..

Glad you didn't spend money on it if you aren't happy with it. Hope you can find something you like better!

How lucky you were to try it out before investing in this bad boy!
Great shot Doug! :^)

Sharp shot of this sharp lens. I recently tried out the old Nikkor 70-200mm VR f/2.8, though an impressive lens, I decided not to buy it. I wish Nikon would replace the old 80-400mm VR, now there's a focal length I need.
