Winter Stones 5

near Long Compton, Oxon view map

Another view of these ancient stones on the top of the Warwickshire/Oxfordshire ridge; how many winters have they seen?

Thanks due to Stewart (smit10pics: http://www.pbase.com/smit10pics) for suggestions on how to get better, more crisp sharpening; this is my first effort using the sharpening bit of his workflow, and I rather like it! Thanks Stewart, Happy Christmas :o)

A most satisfactory image: lighting, composition, exposure and the rest. I rather like it too.

Looks like somebody is sitting there.

Excellent, Doug. There really IS something about this fellow in the foreground, that says, 'I've been around for a long, long, time...and I've seen it all' Something so solid and indefatigable.
Wonderful work...

Just fabulous Doug, there is something very pleasing about the balance in this shot and I like the mistiness appearing in the distance!

Great shot as per the other comments like the flow through - really like the different colour and types of lichens & mosses on the stones. They are heavily eroded for standing stones - I don't reckon these have travelled for from source - are they a local limestone?
