My friends Tina and 'Judge' Wynecoop found this larvae of the pine borer when splitting wood for the stove. Tina took some shots and I took some and we have combined them with photos of an adult taken earlier. This Borer quickly decomposes dead Ponderosa Pine trees and the larva serves as a very nice lunch for Pileated Woodpeckers.
