Birds have been my photo passion for several years but in the Spring of 2011 I caught the butterfly passion from our local expert. I tried chasing them around with the 500mm lens for a short time. As you can see from the May photos of the tiny Blue butterflies, it does not work well. Finally I picked up the Sigma 150 and hopefully my shots will improve over time. Adding butterflies to birding trips made the summer more exciting than ever. Best of all, we have a website, BAMONA, that allows you to upload your photos and an expert will identify the species for you. Grab your cameras, have some fun and send them in to: www.butterfliesandmoths.org Many thanks to John Baumann for introducing me to this wonderful window into nature and to BAMONA's David Dropper for the identifications. Since I do not send all of my butterfly photos in to BAMONA, there might be errors here. Those are entirely mine.
