Wow! I don't know how to explain what i felt when i saw the pics of my village. It was there where i walked by three- four times a day. I have lots of memorries in all the pics i heve seen. We Ethiopians could be the example for the rest of the world. It is a country where many different ethnic groups along with different religious followers live together. Even if the Meles and his followers tried to break its hisorical facts, they could not do it. Especially Dire Dawa is a unique example of unity, harmony, respect, multicultural, tolerant and friendliness to outsiders. But as our country is in the fall of the Tirgre occupants, Dire Dawa is deliberately destroyed by the regime of Meles. Dire Dawa once used to be the power house of Ethiopia. Now, Dire Dawa is at the last rank among big cities in Africa. Let, we the boys of this famous city be one, stand side by side and save our city and our country. We are resposible for what is taking place in our country. We cannot shut our eyes and allow this brutal regime do what ever they want in our country. Enough is enough.

Hi to all, I work in Djibouti and goes often to Dire Dawa for business purpose.
I feel very nice and calm place here in the region. I feel very nice once I enter there due to its greenary, flowers and trees. The climate is much better and good than Djibouti. The people are very friendly there.
I got chance to eat the KHAT and Bun (coffee) along with some friends there. The Leul Mekonen's palace is a historical place there.

I spent a few days in Dire over the summer of 07. Some things have changed, such as the increase in population and the three-wheeled taxis called "Bajaj", but the people are still genuine in their treatment of others. Two things struck me the most. We were staying at a friends house who happens to be muslim. Come evening, half of us were saying our Christian prayers, having been brought up as a Catholic, and half of us were bowing towards Mecca, all in the same room. Next we were all sharing a meal. The second was the warm rain. And yes, I chewed chat to my heart's content.

Dire is a paradise on earth and who took these pics is an angel on earth. Birabiro, we owe you our lives. Born and my soul still flying in Kezira while my body is way for the last ten years. Oh!Oh!Big up Dire!This was the real town where my whole family was born & raised;Visited it 5 or 6 times;There is no other place like Dire.It's the most awesome & unforgetable place.

Wanna see some pics. of LEGHARE,MEGALA,SA ABIAN, GENDE KORE,CONEL,&ALL which I've not mentioned.

I was born in Kesira right above the Commercial Bank and then in Konel until i was 8 years old but i usually go there on every school break. It's been three years since i left Addis to study abroad and seeing the pictures was one good thing that makes me feel proud of my city.

I lived in Dire Dawa from the time I was three months old until I turned 16. On page 2 there is a picture of the house I grew up in. It is the first two story house built in that town in 1906 by the french missionaries. Behind it was St Lazarus printing press which my father directed for the mission until 1977. Thank you for taking me back to the happy years of my childhood.
