After a heavy rain, the nest of the Mute Swan couple at the Celery Farm was in danger of being submerged. So the parents are once again taking measures to repair the home of their seven eggs. Yes, seven (7). A previous count of five proved to be a couple low. When will these eggs hatch? No one knows, but we are all eagerly awaiting the big event.
As you can see, the eggs have hatched (6 of the 7)and the cygnets have left the nest. Four of the six have survived and are being well guarded by the parents. A future gallery will (with any photographic luck) feature the family as the young swans grow and mature through the summer. For more of the story, see: http://www.pbase.com/bioman10/swans2
