Celery Farm Colors and Textures of Late Spring and Summer

A walk along the trails of the Celery Farm in late May revealed many old friends and some new: Mountains of multiflora rose, trail borders of birdfoot trefoil, occasional glimpses of wild strawberry, jewel-like clusters of Dame's Rocket, two species of viburnum, delicate bunches of common fleabane, a hawkweed that was new to me. As the season progresses, most of these blooms will be replaced by different hues, offering more photographic opportunities.

By the way, as you stare at these images, perhaps seeing these flowers up this close for the first time, you may begin to doubt that these extremely complex structures could have "evolved" by undirected chance and natural selection. As the motto on one of my t-shirts says, "Intelligent Design Theory--if it looks designed, maybe it is."
