The Traditional Navigator Rapwi

Rapwi was in the books we had read. He is the teacher of the famous Mao Pialug 'The Last Navigator.' These men are revered across the Pacific (anyone who knows ancient navigation knows these two). It is a dying skill consisting of navigating by the stars, the wind, the birds, the current, and the temperature among other things. The art of canoe building is equally revered. These men are truly god-like in stature amongst seafarers across the Pacific.

Hey! Boys and girls, I know that we all from different islands with different believes, customs, and cultures. Just to make you clear, we are here to learn customs, believes, and cultures from one another. I believe each and every one of us already knows the history of our islands, villages, and clans. So why are you guys keep on arguing in here. This is a place where we can get to know each others.

I am from Satawal island in yap state, working with the gov. of guam as a network administrator/ webmaster for the guam police department. Rapwiy is my uncle, and he's here with me in guam. We do some talking about navigation and its history.

Ok, I am going to run down some lines here about Mr.Rapwi. Rapwiy got all his brothers and sister on satawal. He's the only one grew up on polowat island know as p7. The mom is from satawal and the dad is from polowat is. The reason why he decide to stay on p7 is to take place of his dad.

Well, all of these pwipwi jok are learned how to navigate from their father “UNKNOWN NAME”.If you need more information ask the elder people from your island.

I grew up around this guys and yes he is from Satawal adopted to Polwat. His got all his brothers and sisters were living there on Satawal, one brother married to Lamotrek and one to Mogmog.
