My friend, Steve, and his wife, Deb, dropped in from California so I gave them a tour of the city across the river (where I lived for five years).

We took a commuter bus to the Port Authority, took the N train downtown to Chinatown for lunch, grabbed a cab to South Port to ride the Circle Line tour, took a cab to the Empire State building, walked to Times Square and then walked back to the Port Authority to ride the bus home. They got to play "New Jersey Commuter" as well as "Tourist" and "New Yorker" (I taught them how to hail a cab like a native.) :)
