C. Fred Johnson Park Carousel, Johnson City- Gallery

C.F.J. Boulevard, Johnson City, N.Y. Installed in 1923, this carousel is the largest of the six in the area, featuring 72 figures, 4-abreast. This carousel is considered the most elaborate group of carvings in the collection. Original scenic panels remain. Large pagoda-style carousel house, situated in Endicott-Johnson factory complex and workers’ recreation area.

im only 14 and im pat (wright) sherwoods son and she tells me all about how she would ride these and she talks a lot about the pool but i cant find any pictures. the only picture i saw was at a diner on main st has a bunch of photos of old johnson city.

I spent countless hours during summer vacation at the carousel and pool. So much fun. These pictures bring back the teenage memories ad how carefree the time was. Thanks. Anyone know where you can find good pictures of the pool before the Village destroyed it?

I can remember as a child countless rides and a fond love for this wonderfull experience.
Today as i look back i feel blessed as a child to remember such a loving and caring growing up in CFJ park ,as well as the beginning of learning to swim at the pool (dont forget the slide),as a tadpole or was it minnow, its been so long ago, but it influenced my whole life growing up with wholesome values, which i believe i have passed on to my children. We must remember to cherish the outdoors and allow ourselves to play ,both in our past and in our future.

Beautiful pictures... I rode this carousel many times... It's nice that it's been restored, but the colors I remember are the vivid blue, red green, and yellow of the park paint, used for the horses, the swings, the slides... When I visit in the summer I make sure to have just one more ride.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures of the carousel in CFJ Park. I was born and raised in JC, and spent countless hours riding the horses starting at age 3. You brought back a lot of pleasant memories.

The Fountains Pavilion was originally called the George F. Pavilion or the George F. Johnson Pavilion. It still stands, however it has been closed down and the contents were auctioned off. I found an open door there in April 2006 and the place is a mess....buckeled floors, plaster falling down, etc.

Your site claims to have pictures of the Fountains Pavilion but, I cannot find any. I was actually looking to find the date of the visit by Robert Kennedy. I remember that I was a boy of about 16 years old in 1968 when I believe he came there. I do not remember the exact date.
