Carousel's of The Triple Cities, Upstate, NY

There are six historic carousels in the Binghamton area. All were built by the Well-Known Carousel maker Allan Herschell and donated to the towns by shoe manufacturer George F. Johnson.

There are only 155 antique carousels in the Us Today. And only 19 left made by Alan Herschell. It's amazing that 6 of Hershell's Carousels are here in The Triple Cities Area in Broome County, NY. No other place has as many carousels as Broome County, NY. according to American Carousel Society.

All six of the Triple Cities Carousels-- two in Binghamton, two in Endicott and one each in Johnson City and Endwell, NY. They are characterized by short legs drawn tightly to the body, oversized heads with glass eyes and round dish saddles. All 300 hand-carved figures are ''jumpers'' that move up and down
