A closer view of the Devastated Area. You can see clearly several recent avalanches on the mountain slope, as the HDR image captures a wide range of luminosity from shadow in the trees to detail in the sunlit snow.
HDR (or "high dynamic range") images are created by an automatic merge routine built into Photoshop CS2 that blends the luminosity of a bracketed series of images.
