Tracks across one of the open fields.

Marsh Creek State Park, PA

Well it did "warm up" on January 4, 2014 from a frigid low of 1 degree to the mid-20s by mid-day.
Fortunately, there was very little wind today.

I headed back to the state park's upper fields just off Chalfont Road around 11:30 AM for about two hours of cross country skiing.
I really enjoy this part of the park for cross country skiing.
Years ago I used to mountain bike in the park and learned the connections between all the trails and fields.
My mountain biking days are over, but my trail knowledge is invaluable when hiking or XC skiing in the park.

There were quite a few people out and there were tracks all over the fields and trails.
The 6" snowfall, coupled with the cold temps, and blue skies made for absolutely perfect XC skiing conditions. It was a blast!

It's just great having this state park so close to where we live in Chester County and amidst some sprawling development and population.
I just love the open space of Marsh Creek State Park!

It is beautiful year-round, Stephanie. Most people think of the lake and its activities, but these upper fields are just great for cross country skiing, mountain biking and hikes/walks with or without a dog. It is a jewel of central Chester County amidst all the housing development. I'm really glad we have such a destination near where we live.
