Gaynor Trestle

September 24-26, 2010
Sitting at the fire trying to get Scanner Radio to work on my Droid. You can see the FRED of the passing Westbound Train. Long time exposure ( 20 minutes ) taken at 11:30pm. The moon helps when it is almost full. The Slot.....very cold this morning. John B.
Reminds me of the Waldo morning. Robert knows all about that. Looking west over the trestle into the tunnel. A small hike gets you to the south side of the tunnel. South Side looking at a Westbound.
John B. West into the tunnel. Hmmm....what does that say? DPU's bringing up the rear. Helper 4444
Gaynor Hotel If you see light at the end of this tunnel, you better run!! West side of the Winton Tunnel Ahh.....fresh air. Winton Tunnel West Winton

Berne Looking East. Amtrak #8 I see John, do you? East Berne
East Berne East Berne East Berne g1/21/627321/3/128885929.gQXWVwmL.jpg
East Berne Scenic and Hwy 2 West portal of the 7.8 mile long Cascade Tunnel The graffiti seems to now make it on the tunnel walls too. sucks.
....wait for it..... ....ding Concrete ties, except this one. Go figure? ......and this tie is on the other side of the private crossing, but I wouldn't consider this a tie since it only had one spike.
Hmmm....is this the way to the Emerald City? Rain came in Saturday night. West Winton Out with the old, in with the new.

g1/21/627321/3/128885948.7rkppVae.jpg Maybe my new favorite shot?? Thanks John for showing me how to get here. GP-38.......see next photo... Can you name them all?
ALERT: If you see this vehicle in the area, be warned; it could be filled with rail geeks. Chumstick...West Side. I want to say this is a lube stick for the locomotive? Chumstick built in 1928
...am told one of those graphics looks familiar. Again, can't read this one...seems to be covered in soot. LOL A different view of the River Road Trestle....not telling how we got here. John needed a break. The wheeling was getting worse the further we traveled. We finally turned around.
.....I've seen better joints. Maybe this is why there was a restriction in this area. g1/21/627321/3/128885965.tjS6wZPn.jpg BNSF
