These are some of my favorite places, people and things. Since I live in the foothills between Oregon and Northern California (on the California side), many of my pictures are from this area. I try to attend car shows, air shows and any events in Chico.

After more than 30 years shooting Nikon, Canon, Minolta and Pentax film cameras, I moved to digital - and Canon - in 2005. I stayed with them through 3 body upgrades, moving to Nikon in 2008. Whether shooting the Canon 20, 30 or 40D or the Nikon D300, 7000 or 7100, I always maintained a stable of (ever-changing) top-end glass. From every Canon L series lens of less than 400mm to every gold-ringed Nikon of the same focal range, my bag weighed in more than I did. Things had to change.

That change was a move to micro four thirds. Shooting the Panasonic DMC-GX7, Panasonic 14-42 II, PanaLeica 25/1.4, PanaLeica 45/2.8 and the Panasonic 35-100/2.8. Light weight it was. Comfortable or fun to use? Not even a little. That lasted 6 months.

Never needing full-frame, I decided to go back to APS-C, but this time I would manage both GAS and weight a bit more realistically.

I'm back in black with a new D7100, plus a Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.0 OS 'C', Sigma 10-20/4-5.6, Sigma 50-150/2.8 OS and Nikon 85/3.5VR macro. Bought the wife a D5300 to replace the D40 she'd outgrown (which sits in a bag as a backup with the Nikon 18-55/3.5-5.6 II attached). She also packs the Nikkor 70-300/4-5.6 VR, Nikon 35/1.8 and the rather surprisingly superb 18-140/3.5-5.6 VR.

I'd like to add a couple of short Sigma or Nikon f1.8 primes (28/30/35 & 85). And while I have no intent to go back to a bag full of f2.8 zooms and f1.4 primes, I do plan on the new Nikon 80-400VR, though.

That all said, I'm much more of a gearhead than photographer. I know that. I would trade everything...except the (insert current body here) and the (insert current favorite lens here) for just a shred of talent. Please, if you like what you see, sign the guestbook or leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you!
