The Lao people are beautiful. They live simple lives, fishing and agriculture being the main professions. Women work in the rice fields, weave beautiful garments of silk, do needlework, and piecework. Goods are bought and sold at the local markets and along the roadsides. One village may sell only dried fish; another--cucumbers. "Saibadee," will bring a smile, and a "Saibadee" in return. Their nature is to be generous and kind. The children have the freedom to roam, unfearful of harm. They love to follow you and have their pictures taken.
