Those in the Causeway Bay typhoon shelter are no longer active fisherman. The people just continue to live on the boat according to tradition passed on to them. There are however, still some active fishing boats in Aberbeen, but the younger generation of the boat people have found jobs on land. The boat owners have to employ sailors from mainland China in order to go fishing.

I suspect that as the younger people leave these boats for a "better" life in the factories and cities, you will have some of the few surviving photos in your archives to show they even existed! I wonder if there are any of the sampans remaining that I remember from my youth? Or are these what I recall?
