Funeral Ceremony in Tana Toraja, in the middle of Sulawesi (Indonesia). 60 bulls and hundreds of pigs are slaughtered during a 5 day lasting funeral, where more than 1000 people meet, drink and eat. Toraja have a Protestant Christian religion, with a lot of native influences.

Hello Ariya, The pictures were taken in July 2002. Í don't know exactly where, but the mountain in the background seems to be pretty famous. It's a half hour drive from Rantepao. The name of the mountain is Kandora (see also www.batusura.de/index.htm). The funeral is of a famous Toraja Princess, who was rather old when she died. Gifts were from all over the world.
