930 770 0957

Chassis number 930 770 0957 was the 7th of 10 built by Porsche for the North American IMSA and Trans-Am Series.

0957 was purchased by Bob Hagestad and campaigned in 1977 with Hurley Hayward and won the Daytona Finale 250 at the end of the season. During 1978, Hagestad and Hayward only raced twice but took 2nd in both attempts. In 1979, the car was sold to Charles Mendez and converted to the 935 configuration. Mendez, Rutherford, Miller, Redman and Akin campaigned the car with a 2nd OA finish at the 12 hours of Sebring being the best finish. After the 1979 season, the car was restored to the original 934.5 configuration and sold at auction in Monterey.

Today, 0957 is privately owned, race ready, and available for purchase. $225,000.00

Current modifications include:
Relocated the intercooler radiators to the rear quarter panels forward of the rear wheels, and replaced the front bumper/air dam.
Modified the turbo air intake location from below the engine to above.
Installed a larger turbocharger.

Installed new water pump for intercooler.

Spares include:
Original front and rear bumpers.
Original turbo air intake plenum.
Smaller turbo.
Spare set of BBS wheels and tires.

Update as of Feb. 13, 2006

Bernie,

I have good news and bad news.

The good news is I have some answers to your questions. The bad news is the owner has learned the value of 934.5 cars has gone up dramatically what with them now being allowed in European vintage racing and seeing '76 RSR turbos going for $345,000.00. Especially since he has one of the 10 factory built 934.5 cars. I am sorry to say that the owner now wants at least $295,000.00 for his 934.5 and that does not include the spares. Those would be at extra cost.

The injection pump is mechanical Bosch.
It has twin Bosch ignition.
The axles have been upgraded to 935 titanium with the big rubber coupler.
It has a 4-speed, LSD. Not sure of the ratios but he believes they are LeMans ratio. Not sure what that would be.
It has original 917 brakes.
Coil-over front and rear with titanium springs (934/935).
3.0 liter displacement. He has never been inside the engine, so can't say what is on the inside. It is the original engine however. S/N 6772805.
Don't know who did the restoration, but they did a darn good job. Wouldn't be surprised if the factory did it.

Sorry to have to tell you of the price increase. I don't have any control over that.

Could your please edit your web site posting to the new price and change the mention of spares as being at extra cost?

Cheers,
Alvin
