The Brook at Falcon Lodge

This is a stream that runs through the Falcon Lodge housing estate, which was built by Sutton Coldfield
Council in the 1950s. Sutton Coldfield, once a Royal Borough, is now just a suburb of Birmingham (England).

I rember the brook well, used to walk on a large diameter pipe that spanned it, very close to thje 114 bust stop if memory serves. Lived at Wyatt Rd from birth to age about 14. Used to be friends with one of your commentator below - Ashley Smith Pat Thomas

Keith, thank you for the memories. I was born and lived in fowler road from 1949 to 1965 when I joined the RN. My family lived at 45 until my mother passed away recently. I grew up playing in the brook, then off to middleton woods via langley mill, or off to rectory or sutton park for the day! Great times, great place to grow up. great pics i used 2 play down the brook as a child my huby proposed to me waiting for the 114 bus back to brum last bus was 10pm off churchill parade where the flats was all that area was under cover with toilet block in the middle we had a maisonette in carhampton rd then moved into a house in lindridge rd ent to springfield school and fairfax

Originally lived on Springfield rd at the corner of Signal Hayes rd,moved to 298 Lindridge rd on the fringe of the lodge in 1963 No 298 was the police house and dad was in CID at the old police station on station rd in central sutton just up from the old pet shop which was owned by the famous lady who trained the pg tips chimps and soon became the owner of Twycross zoo.In Sept 1969 parents eparated and I moved to Wyatt Rd no 32 I think.From sept 63 to Dec 69 I attended Fairfax High school. I have vast memories of the lodge, great days. I remember in 67 during the flower power days buying a bell to hang round my neck, bought it from the shop next to the gents hairdressers on the Churchill shops. I could go on and on with my Falcon Lodge memories.

Hi, Love the photos, I remember when the Bus Shelter was being built, I lived in Duncumb Road, "I think that's the correct spelling" Between 1954-1961, I am now 56 yrs old and Living in Australia, lovely memories, Regards Roger

Lovely photos, I lived on Falcon Lodge on Wyatt Road between 1969 and 1972 and remember walking home from Woodington Infants School and walking to the shops, such memories that I have no photos of, thanks for giving me some to look at.

What lovely Photographs. I lived on Springfield Road between 1961 and 1986, my parents are still there. I have very happy memories of walking back along that brook from Woodington Infants, and from having my first haircut at the hairdressers. Thanks for the memories.

wonderful photos of falcon lodge, ive lived on the estate all my life up until recently when i moved to nearby erdington (im 39). love the 70s black and whites, really bring to life the period, think you,d have to of lived on the estate to realise the real and contrasting beauty of the place with the surrounding countryside magical, but im biased of course. if you have any others of the time you,d like to share,then they,d be much appreciated thanks

hello Keith -i have been searching all morning for some historical pictures of Falcon lodge estate and to see the brook at F.L photo's were marvelous. I am only 26yrs old but i am facinated when it come s to local histoy and i currently live on top of the shops and to see them so long ago (falcon lodge shops photo) made me all warm inside...thankyou.
