Rural Sutton Coldfield

Sutton Coldfield was a Royal Borough, a prestigious town north of Birmingham,
but that was taken over by Birmingham a couple of decades ago. These photos
are to celebrate the attractive, if small, areas of countryside in its vicinity
that are probably doomed to disappear under the relentless building of housing
and roads. In recent years it has been badly scarred by unnecessary motorways.

Hi, I used to live in Withy Hill Road until 1963, my family then went overseas to live. My memories of this place, even all these years later are so real and special. I don't remember the number of the house, except that next door was a shop. As kids we used to go down the road to what I remember was called the 'first brook' was used to catch stittlebacks. These were wonderful times, and oh! so different to today. Thank you for posting these photos they are just wonderful. If you have any others my email address is bob_garbett@hotmail.com

Thank you so much for giving me a wonderful scenic reminder of my home in Sutton Coldfield! As a resident of Los Angeles, California I really long for the beautiful countryside it was when I grew up there in the 1960 to 1970's. Thanks again

Keith these are really pretty photographs, never imagined anywhere around Birmingham to be so scenic.
