With a little help from some friends I have been able to identify 'that' car!
It is a German built Ford Taunus 17M P3 Turnier which, in this guise, was manufactured between 1960 - 64.
Interestingly, we think of eye / high level brake lights on a car these days as a modern invention, but if you look closely at the upper left and right corners of the tailgate on the car you can see elongated lights, additional to those mounted on the rear wings.
