Hi all,, in 1930 on the other side of the road was the "saturday bridge" and next to it was a fish and chip shop my whole family mom dad and myself lived in one room above the shop i am now 81 yers old, but still remember it very well,,no money only hope, I still have a walk aroud there when in town

hi keith i would be grateful if you or anyone else would have any information..my grandad (asian Pakistani) had a shop on the parade in the 1960 right infront of the number 87 bus stop..i think there is a care home build on the site now thats all i know about him and would love to hear from anyone who remember him..thanks, henna

All the upper facade has been kept and the inside of the buildings turned into a rather
swish bar/night club, just on the left hand corner was Willy's Wine Bar and the extreme right of the block (out of shot) was the Shakespeare pub (and still is)

Used to get my specs from Frank Hardy easy access as I was an engieer in Telephone Hse in Newhall St. from 1956. Used to get radio parts from accross the road, that was the side of the road that went first.
