Louis Moses Gomez was an early Jewish settler during the colonial period in Marlborough NY. He
purchased 1,200 acres in 1716 which he later expanded to 3,000 acres. He was a successful
mill operator amassing a fortune in his lifetime. The house was later used as a staging point
and meeting place for American patriots during the revolutionary war. The stream that powered
the mills still bares the name: Jews creek. Su and I stop here often on our motorcycle runs to
enjoy the scenic beauty and serene setting.
