Does anybody remember and hopefully have pictures of my former husband, CWO Merle (Mike) Estes who was with the Ratfinks 67-68? He passed away in 2004, but had no contact with his 3 sons after 1977. He was WOC class 65-9 at Ft Rucker.

Hi Ben,
Ejoyed you site. I was pleased to see the photo of 76136. The old girl looked as good as the time as I crewed her back in 1966 while I was stationed with Staff Avn. at Fort Ord.
I also crewed 209 before it was sent to Vietnam. A/C 708 was crewed by Jim Visser and quad duce was crewed by Jay Young during ther same time frame. I was hoping that 136 would be flying fishermen in Canada instead of being in a museum but I guess thats a fitting end for a grand old bird. Thanks again for a good site. Bob Wolles

Hi Ben

I don't know if you can help me, but I am trying to find information on my father's tour in Vietnam. He recently passed away very suddenly and I have some information regarding his platoon. It reads, 2nd platoon 54 avaition company "Rat Finks" (i guess this is the name they called themselves) I also have plenty of pictures of his service and his three air medals. My father's name was Lawrence F. Sullivan and I belive he served in 66-68. If you any of this information means anything to you, i would really appreciate it!!!!

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kelly Sullivan

Hi Ben-
I'm trying to assemble a very very old Unitron No. 128 telescope. You wouldn't happen to have a manual, would you? we cannot locate one and do not know how to (re)assemble it.

thanks,
Millie (milliechubaird@yahoo.com)

I was the crew chief of Big Daddy 694 from 1-11-1968 through 4-13-1969. We were low slow but relilable!

I got to use my college's Unitron photographic mount in the mid-1960s. It was a 4 inch model with a 3 inch Mogey brass refractor from the 1880s. The mount was on a big sheet steel pier from Unitron. It had the fantastic all-brass clock drive with a weight down the pier, powering it by gravity. A Young's centrifugal governor controlled tracking speed. About all I can say on the Unitron quality is that it was comparable to Questar, but surely a heck of a lot heavier!
I took some afocal pix of the moon through the scope. I showed telescope basics to the Intro to Astronomy students for a couple semesters, even though I was an Economics major.

Just in case you didn't know 76136 which you have in the Otter file is hanging from the ceiling of the Aviation Museum at Ft Rucker. It is painted in the White and Red Artic scheme.
