M101 - The Pinwheel Galaxy

Altoona, PA

Target: M101 The Pinwheel Galaxy
Imaging Scope: Astro-Tech 8" Imaging Newtonian @ prime focus
Mount: Orion Atlas EQ-G (EQMOD)
Imager: SBIG ST-2000XM
Guiding: 1 second guide exposures using ST-2000XM internal guide chip
Software: acquisition - CCDOps, post processing - CCDSoft, AstroArt & Adobe Photoshop
Exposure Information: 2 x 5 minutes. Dark and Flat fields applied.
Comments: Transparency poor and windy. I need to get a coma corrector. Field of view is 30 x 50 arc minutes. This session I was basically checking the collimation and a few other software issues. I only shot two five minutes exposures because the wind was quite gusty at times. Tracking and guiding continue to be excellent. Field of view is approximately 49 x 37 arcminutes.
