Well, I picked up a pencil and sketch pad tonight ... for the first time in years, and was again
brought home to something I loved (and I mean LOVED) to do as a child. Draw. And draw funny
characters. I gotta give a hearty tip-o-the-hat to one of my favorite Las Vegas artists, Mark Mellon,
who inspires me with his incredibly whimsical approach to human and animal forms. Enjoying Mark's art
has, without a doubt, given me a permission of sorts to come back to those things that make me laugh,
giggle, clap my hands in silly delight, and not have one ounce of fear of reprisal or tsk-tsking that
what I'm doing is not "adult" or sophisticated enough. And, of course, it goes without saying that my
guy, Paul, brings such love, joy and happiness to my life that I can't help but want to draw things
that might also bring him delight, too, no matter how ridiculous they may be. :-) Life is good. And God is great!
