Nailed this composition! I would be tempted to drop the saturation and pinch the levels (shadow slider right and highlight slider left) to punch the mood even more. Love this.

Thank you so much, Phil ... the barren trees also remind me of skeletal hands/fingers reaching out from decay (that we don't see in this image, but which is hinted at or implied by the carcass-eating buzzard). The fact is that we all will die and we all will decay. Our experiences in the "circle of life" also teach us that various memories, experiences, relationships, hopes, wishes, etc., also experience death and decay.

And yes, your stork roost image certainly evokes a feeling of that decay and the ultimate death of us all.
