As a result of Katrina, many communities are building up
their Mass Casualty Incident capabilities. Tillamook,
Oregon is no exception. On October 25, 2006, we had a
practice mass incident - a bus loaded with students
crashed into two cars. In reality, we hauled in two
cars from the junk yard and recruited nineteen
students for victims.
The incident was successful in that most of it came
off as planned and where it didn't, we learned where
we need to "plug the holes" which, of course, is the
whole purpose of an exercise.
Much of the equipment shown here was on its maiden
voyage due to massive efforts from many people to
prepare equipment, supplies and procedures for this
type of incident.
