Calumet Farm

Versailles, KY

Perhaps the greatest of all the Kentucky horse farms, this 762 acre farm was built in 1924 by William Monroe Wright, founder of Calumet Baking Powder Company.
Some of the famous horses who once resided here are Blenheim II, Bull Lea, Whirlaway, Citation, Tim Tam, and Alydar.

Close to bankruptcy in 1992, Henryk de Kwiatkowski saved Calumet from possible liquidation by purchasing it and promising not to change a single thing.

This is one of the farms I will be calling in hopes of making an appointment for a visit. The others are Mill Ridge, where Barbaro's dam and full brother live; Claiborne, where Secretariat is buried; and Three Chimneys, home to Smarty Jones.
