Sad to see the current state of this beautiful building with all of the graffiti. Makes me want to go wash it (or just ring the necks of the people who did it).

I recently received an email from Lannie Hartman in which she talked about her memories of the Corbett Building:
"I belong to the Vanishing Tucson group on Yahoo and followed a link to your photo gallery of Tucson.
I am so grateful to you for capturing the Corbett building on 6th Ave and 7th St.
My father leased the front of the building in 1945 and started his business there.
All of the front and the side were windows..................all gone now....sadly.
Tucson Auto Parts and Equipment Company was the name of it and in the back was Corbett Lumber !
Across the street west, was Coca Cola Bottling, north was O'Rielly Chevrolet and on the nw was Little John's Italian food.....along with a large glass a mirror place......I can't recall the name now.
My dad moved out of the building in the very early 60s to a larger one on 5th Ave just south of Broadway....and that building now houses the offices of CODAC.
My dad sold his business to O'Rielly's and left Tucson in 1964 and opened his business again in Bullhead City Arizona................Called it Bullhead Auto and Industrial Supply.
...........it was just sold by my brother to a huge warehouse in Phoenix.

Everyone always talks of the Stone Ave underpass flooding (Lake Elmira), but I recall how the 6th Ave underpass did the same thing !
A very real memory of me and my siblings trying to help my dad and his employees sweep mud and water from his business one summer.....................a real mess.

Thank you for that photo."
