Pieplant Ghost Town

Pieplant

People lived here from 1896-1910 while milling ores mined along the Taylor River. There was also some lead and silver mining in the vicinity.
Founded by James Jenkins and John Lynch, this is a beautiful ghost town with several buildings to explore. As you drive along the road to the Taylor Reservoir, you'll need to take the dirt road called FR742. There are signs indicating Pieplant is at the end of that road. (I think Pieplant may refer to rhubarb, a popular pie filling of the pioneers.)

You are correct about the name. They did call rhubarb "pie plant" It used to grow in very thick patches up and down pie plant creek. It has been dug and picked so much that it is nearly gone from there now; you can still find a few patches here and there.
