Fox Theatre

17 W. Congress St.

Built in 1929 by M. Eugene Durfee, the Fox Theatre is now being restored as part of the Rio Nuevo Project.
Recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places
Update: The Fox Theatre will open on New Year's Eve 2006.

Eugene Durfee was also the architect on a theatre in Douglas that is now being restored. He did several others, some in southern CA, and I believe one is still in part-time use as a movie theatre in Jerome.

There was at least four nice theaters on Congress St.; Fox, Lyric, Rialto and Plaza, plus 3 or 4 drive ins, I believe, around Tsn. area.
