It's June!

June Challenge: Urban and Landscapes

Farmer cutting hay. This is probably the second cutting.
For city dwellers, typically there are 3 cuttings of hay
in the Spring (May-June in this area). Hay is cut (as
seen here) and then turned a couple of times till fully dry.
It is then baled and stored till needed. They used to
make rectangular bales but the current method is to make
round bales. There are some photos in the right-hand column
on this website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hay
Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a close-up for you some day!

Close-up photo of this farmer cutting hay!

Oh, and what appears to be hazy spots are actually clouds of dust.

Good capture; now get a shot of the local Amish doing the same chore ala 17th century.

Nice work of farmers working. I love this. We see both rectangles and round ones but round ones are far more prevalent here. I love the smell of hay being cut. Reminds me of my childhood.

Great shots, as a boy to home on the farm we used horses then a tractor and made rectangular bales. I have tossed a lot of them 6 tiers high.

Round bales here. I cut hay a little at a summer camp.
I drove a FarmAll Cub with 6 foot cutting bar.
Us campers just cut, we didn't know what happened to the fields after we left.

The farmers still make rectangular bales here.
Wonderful shots Brenda! :))
