May Challenge: Memories
I remember seeing this tropical plant in the front room of my grandmother's house. I never saw it bloom and my father said he'd only seen it bloom once in his life. My grandmother passed and my parents took the plant. Imagine my father's surprise upon seeing it bloom not one year but many years. Obviously, it didn't like the western exposure and preferred a more northern exposure. Why is it called "Wax plant"? The blooms weep a waxy substance. The floor is covered well during the time of bloom. Oh, for those wondering, my family plant is well over 100 years old.
