Limits.. what?

Ok, so 95mph for LRC (which was retired in 2001).
90mph for passenger trains - i.e. F40 and P42 locos, Budd cars, etc.
65mph for freights.
Now, what the hell is the difference between white and yellow signs... anyone?

HI Brad, did you get your answer yet? I'm thinking yellow signs are daytime, and white signs are night time limits........

Just pick a colour and a speed and "Bob's your uncle." The white may be diverging line speeds.
