Lenny Schroeder of the Merokes has spent the better part of the last 18 months building from plans a model of the two-engine A-20 Havoc Light Bomber. He built it for a person he met, Dave (don't remember the last name), who served on the plane during the Second World War.
Today at Cedar Creek, both Lenny and Dave were there to show the plane and watch Bill Streb fly it. The plan was to donate the model to a museum after a flight. Dave must be around 80 or so and looked oh so proud of this plane.
Unfortunately things did not go as planned. It was a very sad day at Cedar Creek...
I want to that Dan Latorre who shot the plane in the air as I had to leave for a prior commitment.
