Stonerabbit Mountain

Stonerabbit Mountain is located in the Chehalis range near Mission / Harrison, BC. On Sunday, August 8, 2004, I scrambled up the amazing South East Face on some of the most solid, beautiful alpine granite I have been on in a long time.

I did the approach and route up in 2 hours, 20 minutes. Considering that this is around 4000 feet (elevation gain) of nearly continuous scrambling, I guess I was going fairly fast! I spent an hour on the summit with some of the best views I've had in a long time (Mt Judge Howay and Robie Ried are so close), then just under 2 hours back down (I just love flying down boulder fields and easy slabs!!) to my Jeep (including a quick stop for a refreshing dip in a pool near the bottom).

I love scrambles where you can just open it up and GO, not having to worry about a whole bunch of gear, routefinding, or hard moves that bring you to a stop. For me that's what this route was all about. What an awesome day!!
